Passport Information
U.S. citizens planning to travel in 2008 (or before) outside of the United States may need a passport. Starting on January 23, 2007, you will need a passport for all flights into the USA from outside the country, including those coming in from Canada and Mexico. According to the Department of State Web site, "On June 1, 2009, the U.S. government will implement the full requirements of the land and sea phase of WHTI. The proposed rules require most U.S. citizens entering the United States at sea or land ports of entry to have a passport, passport card." This new passport requirement includes cruises to Canada, Mexico, Central and South America, the Caribbean, and Bermuda. Government officials expect a rush near the end of the year and the beginning of 2009, so this fall might be a good time to get your documents in order. Travel to other parts of the world have long had passport requirements. Do not let the lack of proper documentation keep you from your next cruise vacation! How to Get a Passport
